Chipotle Hot Sauce By: Cholula Hot Sauce
Since Mexico’s Cholula Hot Sauce made its U.S. debut in 1989, their classic “Original” flavor has been joined by four additional varieties… the most popular of which is their “Chipotle” hot sauce.
Just like the Original, Cholula’s Chipotle hot sauce features a blend of dried árbol and piquin peppers, but this time, chipotles (smoked jalapeños) and guajillo chiles are added to the mix, giving the sauce an earthier, smokier flavor profile.
The savory chipotle and árbol peppers dominate the blend, backed by the guajillo chiles. Although the peppers’ smoky, earthy flavors take center stage, the sauce has a subtle sweetness as well, with the bright, citrusy piquin peppers and fruity apple cider vinegar providing balance for the savory árbol chiles, chipotles, guajillo peppers, and spices.
The heat level is very mild, so anyone and everyone can enjoy the sweet, savory, and smoky flavors of Cholula’s Chipotle hot sauce.
Neither too salty nor too sweet, with a hint of tangy acidity and just the right amount of smokiness, this balanced and versatile sauce is excellent with BBQ and grilled meats. Also pairs well with soups, chili, and stews as well as burgers, pizza, macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, and vegetable dishes.
