Insanity Hot Sauce By: Dave's Gourmet
Introduced in 1993, Dave’s Insanity Sauce was the original “hottest sauce in the world”… one of the first hot sauces to be made using pepper extract, allowing it to reach a heat level far higher than what could be achieved with peppers alone at the time.
Since then, hotter pepper varieties have led to the creation of much hotter sauces… both with and without extract… but Dave’s Insanity Sauce is the one that started it all, and it remains an icon to this day. Famous for once having been banned from the National Fiery Food Show for being “too hot”, this smooth tomato-based sauce is all about the heat.
The pepper extract is the star ingredient, and the searing heat is the primary focus… with various chile peppers (mainly habaneros) and tomato paste in the background, accented by hints of onion, garlic, and vinegar.
Use Dave’s Insanity Sauce to spice up a pot of chili, a batch of ultra-hot wings, or macaroni and cheese. Caution: this sauce contains pepper extract and is not for the faint of heart! Use sparingly.
